49 Seats

After reading much raves regarding 49 Seats, I finally arranged a meal there with the hubby for his birthday celebration. I did some read up on the recommendation food too.

The Place

Journey there.. Located approximately 600m walk from Outram MRT...

Interior, to me, is considered vintage-ish and retro. Collapsible grill gate, old industrial lamp and white brick wall finish. And the place was quite small (they accept reservation, recommended to call before patronizing if it is a planned visit).

Do you know? 49 Seats was a name that the owner gave it to be. There are 62 seats (indoor and outdoor) to date, not 49. According to the staff who I spoke to, 49 is the address. ☺

The Food

The menu looked like old magazine. A super smart idea to present the menu la. You see, normally when a person go any restaurant and see any cui-ed menu (especially atas restaurant), you will hiam and say the restaurant no class. But for this one, one would probably think that it is vintage-ly cool! Side track alittle, the holder containing serviette and utensils looks like bread pan, so cute!

Here's our order!
Starter - Mushroom Soup (with a piece of Garlic Bread) by upsizing one of our main course to a complete meal by adding soup and soft drink by just topping $4.90
Drink - Sprite (served in metal mug!) and Fruit Punch Frizz (I think) $2.90
Main Course - Tom Yum Paste ($14.90) and Chicken Chop in Black Pepper sauce with Mashed Potato and French Fries (13.90)
Dessert - Wicked Brownie with Ice Cream ($8.90)

Tom Yum Pasta was uniquely good! Super recommended! But one rule of thumb, never ever have Tom Yum Pasta as the first dish. We had a taste of the gravy before drinking the Mushroom Soup, and we utterly regretted it!  The soup became tasteless.

The Chicken Chop was grilled to perfection! Tender juicy inside and not oily outside!

Dessert was a secretive order between me and the waiter! HAHA! I whispered to the waiter's ear right in front of my husband. Heng, he didn't rolled eye in front of me. But then, I'm very obvious la. It was the hubby's birthday (actual day somemore), what else can I talk to the waiter about!? Despite the food presentation (they should improve on it more! Looks abit not appetitizing lor), the Brownie tasted good!

The Birthday Boy Man

The standard four pose for the birthday boy, although he looked like he is praying instead of making a wish -.-"

Dear hubby,

Despite the simplicity, hope you had a good time celebrating your birthday with Mrs/Mummy Low! Wear your present more frequently hor! And cheers to our infinite celebrations together!

Always ,
kAi
